Line 9 is a line of Binhai Mass Transit.

The total length, 52.759 km, is elevated, taking a total of around an hour in either direction. A large portion of the service is alongside with the Jintang expressway.

The section from Shiyijing Road to Zhongshanmen was opened on May 1, 2011. The section from Tianjin Railway Station to Shiyijing Road is set to open in October 2011.

The train can travel up to 100 km/h, the speed record of all rapid transit systems in China. Of 4 bridges along the line, the No. 1 and No. 4 bridges are longer and ballastless track is used; the No. 2 and No. 3 bridges use ballasted track. The No. 1 bridge, from Guanghua Road (between Dongxing Road and Zhongshanmen stations) to Babao, total length 25.8 km, is the longest bridge used in rapid transit systems in China.

The train opened in 2004.
